Get started

  1. Set the default browser. In macOS System Settings, open Desktop & Dock. Find Default web browser and select Browser Picker for Links.
  2. Choose a link-opening mode. Use the app’s Picker Mode to choose a browser for each link, or Direct Open to send links to your selected browser automatically.
  3. Open a link. Click a web link in another app. Browser Picker for Links will show the browser picker or open the link directly, according to the mode you selected.

Common questions

Why does a link open without showing the browser picker?

Check the link-opening mode in the app. Direct Open sends links to your selected browser. Switch to Picker Mode when you want to choose a browser for each link.

Why do I not see my browser tabs?

Open a supported browser, then select Refresh in the Tabs page. If macOS asks for Automation permission, allow Browser Picker for Links to control that browser. You can review the permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. Some browsers do not offer compatible tab automation.

How do I stop or clear open history?

Turn off Keep Open History in Settings to stop saving new entries. To remove existing entries, open History and select Clear History.

Can I open a local web page?

Yes. Open a local HTML or XHTML file with Browser Picker for Links, then choose the browser that should display it.
