Privacy Policy

Browser Picker for Links is a macOS app developed by fangzheng. It lets you choose a browser for links and manage tabs in supported browsers. This policy explains how the app and this support website handle information. “We” refers to fangzheng, the developer of Browser Picker for Links.

1. Information handled by the app

Browser Picker for Links receives the HTTP or HTTPS link you ask it to open. It can also receive a local HTML or XHTML file that you open with the app. Browser Picker for Links passes the link or file to the browser you select. A link can contain information in its path or query string, so consider what is in a link before opening or sharing it.

Open history is enabled by default. When enabled, Browser Picker for Links saves the address or local file path, a display title, the browser used, and the opening time on your Mac. For local files, a macOS security-scoped bookmark may also be saved so the file can be reopened. The app keeps up to 2,000 history entries; older entries are removed as new ones are added. Turning off “Keep Open History” stops new entries but does not delete existing entries.

Browser Picker for Links also saves preferences on your Mac, such as the selected browser, link-opening mode, menu bar style, appearance, and whether to keep history. Small local preferences remember the last browser used in the picker and whether the introduction has been shown. The macOS login item setting is managed through macOS.

The current app does not require an account. Based on the current app implementation, we do not operate an app server that receives your links, tab lists, or saved history, and we do not include an advertising or analytics SDK in the app.

2. Browser and system permissions

Browser Picker for Links detects installed browsers on your Mac. If you use tab management and grant macOS Automation permission, Browser Picker for Links asks supported browsers for their open windows and tabs, including tab titles and addresses. It uses this information to display, activate, or close tabs and windows at your direction. Tab lists are held in app memory for the feature and are not added to Browser Picker for Links history merely because you view them.

You can review or revoke Automation access in macOS System Settings. You can also change the default browser and Launch at Login settings in macOS. Revoking access may make the related feature unavailable.

3. Sharing and third parties

When Browser Picker for Links opens a link, the chosen browser and the destination website handle it under their own policies. If you use the browser download links in Browser Picker for Links, your browser opens the relevant browser vendor’s website. If you use the macOS Share feature, the destination you choose receives the shared text.

The Feedback button opens your configured email app with a draft addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you send it. If you do, we receive the email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to include. Our email provider processes those messages so we can read and respond to them. Please avoid including sensitive information in feedback unless it is necessary.

We do not sell app data or use it for targeted advertising. Apple, your selected browser, websites you visit, your email provider, and sharing destinations may process information independently under their own terms and privacy policies.

4. This support website

This static support website is intended to be hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It contains no forms, app-operated analytics scripts, or advertising trackers. When you visit it, Cloudflare may process request information such as your IP address and browser or request details to deliver and protect the pages. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for its practices. Cloudflare and the email provider may process information in countries outside your own, depending on where you access the pages and services.

5. Retention and your choices

History and preferences remain on your Mac until you delete or change them. You can delete individual history entries or clear all history in Browser Picker for Links, and turn off future history recording in Settings. Clearing history removes the entries from the app’s local data file; Browser Picker for Links does not keep an app-managed history backup. Removing the app alone may leave macOS application data behind, so remove that data separately if you want to erase it.

Feedback emails are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to address the request or meet applicable obligations. You can ask us to delete a feedback email you sent. Because app history stays on your Mac, we cannot remotely view or delete it for you.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. Contact us to ask about information we hold in feedback correspondence or to exercise an applicable right.

6. Contact and changes

For privacy questions or requests, email js.appssup2026@outlook.com.

We may update this policy when the app or our data practices change. The effective date above will show when this page was last updated. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on this page where practicable.
